St Augustine and Aggrey Memorial Senior High School (SHS) have
emerged winners of the Central Regional Super Zonal athletics
competition in the male and female division respectively. The two-day event had sole sponsorship from the Vitamin rich Cowbell milk powder and food drink.
St. Augustine SHS swept away gold medals for most track events after scoring a total mark 107points as the champions for the boys division of the competition. Aggrey memorial on the other hand topped the girls division of the competition with a total score 90.5 points. In all 29 qualified schools from of different part of the central region thronged the Adisadel College Sports Stadium to battle it out for the much-coveted Cowbell trophy.

Joseph Ashong, Brands Manager for Cowbell expressed his excitement about the competition, “Cowbell’s support for events like this is born out of the opportunity it offers for the discovery of talent and I wouldn’t surprised if some world Olympics champions discovered here today he said’’. He also said the Cowbell will continue to serve as a nourishing drink to refresh and replenish the energy the lost by athletes in event like this.
The second and third position for the boys division went to Mfantsipim SHS and Swedru Business School respectively while Obrakyere and Wesley Girls SHS won same positions for the girls division. The atmosphere on the field was charged up with a lot of singing and hails of the athletes by the various schools. Cynthia Frimpong of Fetehman SHS was declared the best athlete of the competition after winning the cowbell gold medal for the 3000m, gold for the 1500m and silver for the 800m track events. She also received souvenirs and cowbell products as part of her winning package.
Gracing the event were some notable dignitaries from the Ghana Education Service, Regional Police Division and the outgoing and incoming regional minister.
This year’s tournament was taken a notch higher after a successful tour of the Cowbell trophy across selected schools in the region to whip to whip up the enthusiasm of students prior to the main super
